“I’m just keeping it real”
Have you ever heard someone say that or said it yourself? What does it even mean to be “keeping it real”?
Often times, the person saying it is referencing something that reflects an event or experience that was negative which occurred from a past situation. Another way to phrase this type of mindset is “I’m just telling it like it is”.
Again, this type of mindset is derived from past experiences that - in most cases, caused some sort of pain or negative emotion. While we should definitely learn from our past experiences - they should never define who we are or our present situation. When we are present in our current situations, the past cannot hold us back - only our ego will hold us back.
•Practice being mindful and fully present in each situation and on each person with whom you are spending time
No one can change their past - nor can they predict their future. The only thing we can control is how we show up in the present moment.
Be present on this magnificent Monday!
